Air fried falafels

Crispy air fried falafels. These are the healthier alternative to traditionally deep fried falafels.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g dry chickpeas
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 small onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 handfuls of coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Method:

Soak the chickpeas in water with 1 tsp baking soda for around 15 hours. Drain and place into the food processor. Add rest of the ingredients and process on high speed.

Place the mass into the refrigerator for an hours. When ready, form your falafels into balls or patties. You can brush them with a little bit of oil.
Place into the air frier and bake for 15 min in 200C flipping half way on the other side.

I had my falafels with big salad, air fried potato wedges and lots of tahini dressing.
